Welcome back everyone! Whether you're a longtime reader or coming here for the first time from Crafty Karen, I'm excited to see you! Thanks for checking out our hop where we make a project using a theme and technique or supply that we've randomly chosen. The challenge is fun, but the best part is getting to use some of those supplies we've had squirreled away for who knows how long!
This month, we wanted to focus on birthday cards with an interactive element!
I was stumped on this one for a while. I didn't want to make a shaker card. I wanted to expand my boundaries. But I also didn't have "expand my boundaries" kind of time, so shaker card it was. Of course I wanted to do something unique for me that of course used an underutilized supply and I'm delighted to say that I think I managed this!
The Greetery Pinwheel Party Bundle 100% lends itself to a birthday card! The bundle comes with several layering stencils. I started with the 4 that create the "swag" of rosettes and ink blended in the colors to make two swags. Next, I took a folded card and stamped some confetti all over the front in gold ink. The stamp is the Concord and 9th Confetti Turnabout. I didn't use the "turning" feature of the stamp, just a single stamping covering the space. I then used the individual pinwheel stencils to stencil more individual rosettes. I die cut those out. After adding some foam tape around the edges, I put in the rosettes and some beads for extra shake! I layered the clear plastic over the front then layered the rosette swags on either side of the shaker window, being sure to cover the foam tape. I trimmed off the overhang and decided I didn't like how it looked with the two swags meeting at the top and bottom edge. This was easily resolved by inking and die cutting two more individual rosettes and gluing them over the join. I decided the front was so colorful and busy that I wanted to skip a sentiment. And with that, I called it done!
I always love this hop and the ways I am challenged by it! But you know what I love even more? Seeing how the Squirrel Squad interpreted this theme! You're going to love it too, so be sure to keep hopping! The Squirrel Squad is a small group so the hop won't take you long, but will leave you feeling totally inspired! Next up: the amazing Anna!! If you love what we're doing, please leave a comment! We love it even more when you subscribe!
