This month, we are generously sponsored by Sheepski Designs, a very talented designer from Leeds, England! I had an almost impossible time choosing the digital stamp I wanted to work with, but finally settled on the adorable critter you see above: Camoflage!
For this card, I leaned a little more into the benefits of digi stamps. I opened a blank word document, took the picture and scaled it so four chameleons would fit on a slimeline-style card. I then very easily spaced them out evenly and printed them out on cardstock. I knew I would be printing one more, so I should have pasted another one to the side, but that's ok! Live and learn!
I trimmed the panel down so the branch extended to either edge and did a very simple 4 color ink blending. As I was doing this, I noticed that the ink was blurring a little bit, but I wasn't stressed about that. I was happy to lean in to the idea that it makes the chameleons blend in to the background all the more. For a different project, that might be something I would want to test and double check.
Next, I colored a vibrant chameleon with pencils. I then fussy cut the design and edged it in black.
Now at this point, I must confess that I forgot to keep taking pictures. However, I do have a TikTok process video, so if you want to watch that, click here. That being said, the last steps are, gratefully, not that hard! First I glued the strip of chameleons to a black mat. Next, I printed out the Dr. Seuss quote "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" on cardstock and matted it as well. As an aside, I gleefully used Comic Sans for the majority of the quote! Come at me, font snobs! Of course I then glued both matted pieces to the front of the cardstock.
After that, I carefully applied foam tape to the pink chameleon. This was, honestly, a tedious process, but worth it! I wanted another chance for the showstopper chameleon to pop out. Finally, I found a perfectly sized green gem in my stash that made an excellent eye! I adhered it with a glue dot and mentally high fived myself for having it turn out just like I pictured!
Thanks for visiting and reading! Please check out the other beautiful contributions by the design team this month and be sure to support Sheepski Designs! There are a lot of beautiful designs in the shop!
