Welcome to those of you coming from the amazing Lounon, as well as those of you who regularly visit! Yep! The Squirrel Squad and I are back with another hop! As I'm sure you recall, each month we focus on a supply we've been squirreling away or a technique we haven't given a lot of time to. We also choose a theme to work around. This month we wanted to focus on the love we have for our friends. And just like our best friends do for us, we're going to shake it up with shaker elements!
I have to admit that this idea came pretty easily to me. I have a geometric die plate (from Winnie and Walter, now sadly closed) that I'd been thinking about turning into a shaker for a long time but, of course, hadn't gotten around to. Nothing like a hop to light that fire!
I have to say, I'm really leaning into the whole TikTok thing (#SorryNotSorry), so I do have a brief video showing the making of it here. However, I also wanted to briefly talk you through it. I started with a white cardstock cut to 5.5" x 4.25". I then ink blended a lovely rainbow. I will admit this is not my smoothest blend, but I knew once the die and shaker bits were added, I wouldn't even be bothered by it.
Next I die cut the foam and a topping piece of cardstock. I made a cardstock/acetate/foam sandwich and filled the color coordinating beads in. The beads are the Iridescent Bubbles from Queen and Company. I then glued that to the ink blended cardstock, flipped it over, and felt very proud of myself! A quick banner made from scrap cardstock cut at a jaunty angle (and stamped with a retired sentiment from Create and Inkspire), and I was done!
I will share that in the video I glued the foam, acetate, and cardstock together and filled the beads into that. In making the card again, I would absolutely glue the foam to the ink blend first then add the color coordinating beads (then acetate and cardstock of course). When I first filled the areas I wanted to shake, I was guessing at where the colors were. I definitely had to make some adjustments. I'll blame an abundance of enthusiasm with a lack of forethought.
I hope I've been able to inspire you to shake it up when it comes to your supplies! And there is WAY more inspiration to come! Just keep hopping along! Next stop: the brilliant and talented Bory! And if you love what we're doing, please leave a comment! We love it even more when you subscribe!
