January 1 means I get to share another 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Design Team creation! This month we are working with QKR Stampede.
I had such a great time perusing the extensive catalog to choose a critter to work with. I wanted to start my year with something magical, so chose the carousel horse!
I have to be honest: I tried a new technique but didn't actually think it was going to work, so I didn't take process pics. Whoops!
I wanted to give the horse a vintage look and wanted to capture the crazing you see in antique glaze. I started by painting Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint (Picket Fence) on the body of the horse. After it dried, I colored in the details with gold gel pen and my colored pencils. I covered that with the same paint in Clear Rock Candy. Finally I rubbed some gold ink over the whole image. It helped enhance the crackle and gave a simple gold halo around the image.
I then stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts' Ornate Carousel set in the upper right corner and colored in "magical' with the gold gel pen again. A thin gold mat on black cardstock completed this project!
I loved working with the crackle paint and am already thinking of lots of other projects I'd like to use it on!
Thanks for visiting and reading! Please check out the other awesome contributions by the design team this month and be sure to support QKR Stampede! They offer a wide variety of images to get lost in!
PS: Yep, everything I used for this was already in my stash in accordance with my Just Stash January Challenge. Don't know what that is? Click here for more details!
