December 1 means I get to share another 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Design Team creation! This month we got to choose a favorite critter stamp in our personal collection and I chose this adorable set by Waffle Flower, Happy Fall.
The moment I saw this set, I fell in love with it! I'm starting to try my hand at more scene building. My approach tends to be creating a "story", and this one is loaded with potential storylines! I had so many temptations, I decided to control myself by creating a cloche scene (giving me the perfect chance to use the Nested Dome Dies from Waffle Flower).
I started by cutting the background paper and loosely inking in grass and sky. I wanted the sky to have the slightly overcast look autumn skies often sport here in Minnesota. I KNEW I needed to color the adorable girl with her chevron coat and little bear ears! Fun fact: the coat is based on one I saw in one of the Legally Blonde movies.
It wasn't hard for me to pick the squirrel as the cutie she would share a cup of hot cocoa with! The hay bale and the pumpkin were obvious choices to bump him up to "cheers" level! Finally, I dressed the scene fully with leaves and steam from the cup!
I wanted it to have dimension just like a real cloche, so I cut some fun foam to go under the gray frame and base of the coat. A piece of acetate sandwiched between the foam and frame helped give it the glassy finish!
