Welcome back to Mix It Mondays! If this is your first time visiting this series, you'll want to start here. Don't forget to follow the links! All caught up? Let's continue!
This week I want to talk about the Greyhound. Because vodka is so neutral, it works well mixed into a LOT of juices. Who hasn't tried to claim a Vodka and Cranberry is good for the kidneys? And a Screwdriver is just vodka and orange juice (a lot of Vitamin C there! I'm not getting a cold!). They are so ubiquitous I wondered if it would even be worth your while to talk about.
Then I remembered this drink. This drink was introduced to me by my friend Ragan as fuel for a craft night. I was dubious when she told me the ingredients. It sounded like a Greyhound, which is vodka mixed into grapefruit juice, a juice I abhor. But this drink is liquid candy! I now think of it as the Greyhound's more accessible relative, hence my name for this drink: The Whippet! You will need:
2 oz. Vodka
5-6 oz. Pamplemousse-flavored La Croix
You will also need some basic bar equipment. You will need:
A shot glass (with actual markings for 1/2 oz., 1 oz., and 1.5 oz.)
A highball glass
Preparing this drink is easy! Just pop a few ice cubes in your glass, add the vodka, then top with the La Croix! If you need to give it a slight mix, just swirl your ice cubes around in the glass for a moment.
This drink has a little fizz and a lot of sass! Best part: if you do like fresh grapefruit juice, then sub that in for the La Croix. The measurements are the same!
Cheers! Salud! Prost! Slainte! Soupy twist!
